Webmin before 1.997 is susceptible to authenticated remote code execution via software/apt-lib.pl, which lacks HTML escaping for a UI command. An attacker can perform command injection attacks and thereby execute malware, obtain sensitive information, modify data, and/or gain full control over a compromised system without entering necessary credentials.
Webmin before 1.990 is susceptible to improper access control in GitHub repository webmin/webmin. This in turn can lead to remote code execution, by which an attacker can execute malware, obtain sensitive information, modify data, and/or gain full control over a compromised system without entering necessary credentials.
Webmin 1.973 is affected by reflected Cross Site Scripting (XSS) to achieve Remote Command Execution through Webmin's running process feature.
Arbitrary command execution can occur in Webmin through 1.962. Any user authorized for the Package Updates module can execute arbitrary commands with root privileges via vectors involving %0A and %0C. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2019-12840.
rpc.cgi in Webmin through 1.920 allows authenticated Remote Code Execution via a crafted object name because unserialise_variable makes an eval call. NOTE: the Webmin_Servers_Index documentation states "RPC can be used to run any command or modify any file on a server, which is why access to it must not be granted to un-trusted Webmin users."
Webmin <=1.920. is vulnerable to an unauthenticated remote command execution via the parameter 'old' in password_change.cgi.
In Webmin through 1.910, any user authorized to the "Package Updates" module can execute arbitrary commands with root privileges via the data parameter to update.cgi.
Webmin before 1.290 and Usermin before 1.220 calls the simplify_path function before decoding HTML, which allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files, as demonstrated using "..%01" sequences, which bypass the removal of "../" sequences before bytes such as "%01" are removed from the filename. NOTE: This is a different issue than CVE-2006-3274.
